Darlin' 04:17
I Waited such a long time Just for you to be mine Together lock step in crime Here we stand, no more plans off to the promised land Barely hangin by a strand Please just hold my hand before this glass runs out of sand forevermore Darlin, Darlin Don’t you let me go Don’t you know Darlin, Darlin Cuz you know I need you so Oh Darlin, Darlin Just turn the lights down low Please won’t you Darlin, Darlin Just dance with me slow Swaying side to side we Fall apart in each other’s eyes, before We say goodbye we cry free You beg me don’t give in, with Your hands across my skin, this Heavy heart is wearing thin Please just keep your face in view So the last I see will be of you Darlin, Darlin Don’t you let me go Don’t you know Darlin, Darlin Cuz you know I need you so Oh Darlin, Darlin Just turn the lights down low Please won’t you Darlin, Darlin Just dance with me slow For the last time, when our lips touch It’s almost too much As the tears run down, our cheeks blush Such a heart rush As my blood runs cold As my heart slows I see your soul of gold As my eyes close Please just remember our love I’ll always be with you from above Darlin, Darlin Don’t you let me go Don’t you know Darlin, Darlin Cuz you know I love you so Oh Darlin, Darlin Just turn the lights down low Please won’t you Darlin, Darlin Just dance with me slow Darlin, Darlin Don’t you let me go Don’t you know Darlin, Darlin Cuz you know I love you so Oh Darlin, Darlin Just turn the lights down low Please won’t you Darlin, Darlin Just remember me so

Never in this life But maybe in the next We could take this love And put it to the test Why do my dreams haunt me so a love so tender I’ll never know I push through each day able to see What I know will never be I hold on, wanting to feel A love so deep could it really be real It’s something so hard to conceal Without you my heart turns to steel I hold on, hoping you’ll see All that I so wish we could be In another world, where we’re more free What is never, turns to maybe Could we be maybe? Our stories are passing by Like ships in the night Ghosts of the sea Neither, a sign of light Our hearts could be one, can’t you see it seems we’re never meant to be For you, I swallow my pride Just smile, don’t even try I hold on, wanting to feel A love so deep could it really be real It’s something so hard to conceal Without you my heart turns to steel I hold on, hoping you’ll see All that I so wish we could be In another world, where we’re more free What is never, turns to maybe Baby Maybe I know it doesn’t make much sense They say I’d never stand a chance For a long-lived romance the honor of your hand in a dance Standing in the rain waiting for you They say I should give up, but I never do Maybe it’s time for someone new Before the storm breaks me in two. Babe you’re gonna break me in two But I can’t help but hold on, wanting to feel A love so deep could it really be real It’s something so hard to conceal Without you my heart turns to steel I hold on, in hopes that you’ll see All that I so wish we could be In another world, where we’re more free What is never, turns to maybe What is never, turns to maybe Yeah never turns to maybe

about

Darlin is a single comprising 2 stories, like two sides of the same coin. These stories are similar in the sense that they are both situations surrounding romantic love and they are both tragedy that cannot be predicted, controlled or rectified in most cases. They are different in that the reasons why they are tragic are very different and they are likely situations and circumstances that most people would encounter in very different walks of life.

These situations are opposite in that one is a situation that brings people closer together (not in the most positive of ways) and the other is a situation that leaves someone feeling more alienated, isolated and alone than anything else.

The title track, Darlin, is a song about a couple that is faced with the most devastating situation. When everything you know and care about and possibly even life itself is about to be ripped from your grasp in a matter of mere moments, there is barely enough time to think, let alone do anything. A lot of us have toyed around with Armageddon scenarios in our head. The “If I only had a few minutes or hours left to live…” or “If we died tomorrow and this were my last night with you…”. In most cases what it really boils down to and the only thing most people would want to do is be as close to the one(s) they love most. This song describes one of those scenarios unfortunately coming to be a reality for a couple that share a truly ethereal bond to each other. The song paints a picture of those last few beautiful, sad and tragic moments.

On the flip side (or the B-side to be more precise) the song Never Turns To Maybe is a song about unrequited and unrealized love focusing both lyrically and in the production on the loneliness that one can feel when they feelings and their dreams of a situation are not reciprocated by the person they long for the most. Sometimes in life you come across someone that you feel is perfect for you in every way imaginable. The unfortunate thing is that in many cases (maybe even most cases)… you might not be quite so perfect in every way for that person. This is a common thing as there are many incompatible pairs of people (especially on a romantic) level int his world. As such, most of us are all too familiar with that lonely feeling you get when the reality of that hits you. This song is focusing on that moment and maybe also finding comfort in the possibility that perhaps in another life or another world the two of you could be together.

The bottom line is… every relationship worth having is worth fighting for and worth testing. Most of these “tests” are not by people but more just by the fabric of reality and the twisted path of fate and destiny. As such, things like this will happen that there is very little that you can do about. As such the tests aren’t with how you “fix” these things or how you circumvent these situations. The test is how you cope, how you move on and IF you can move on when tragedy strikes and find a way to move past them either together or (heaven forbid) alone depending on the severity of the tragedy.

Love can be a ruthless game unless you at least try to play it good and right.

These songs are also available on Spotify and Apple Music for streaming as well. If you buy them through bandcamp you will also get the 3 promotional interview clips as a bonus download.
