This is a fun little crazy tune to pick us up after the dark lanes traveled in Just Roads. Have you ever slept in a little late on a work morning or school morning? Maybe hit the snooze button five too many times? Set your alarm for PM instead of AM? Rise and Shine is a song you might appreciate.

This is a piece depicting the chaos and insanity that can come on those mornings when you really can’t take the time that you need to get firing on all cylinders. Shower, dressed, breakfast, hair, teeth, phone, gear… it’s all a big blur with one goal in mind… to get from bed to door in as little time as possible.

The piece is a more traditional funk-rock, energy-driven song with many abrupt transitions that don’t leave a whole lot of time for contemplation… similar to the situation described above. In the middle of the song is a calm and succulent sax solo overtop of a generally quieter passage symbolizing that 5 minutes you have in the shower giving you that false sense of calm… before the resuming storm. Once we move out of that passage we’re thrust back into the madness until the song finally ends with that front door slam.

For those of us with short circadian rhythms that have never had an issue getting up at 5 AM… I envy you.
