The Colour of Dark is a song about emotions. Specifically, the numbness some of us unfortunately feel in our everyday lives. Monotony and emotional shock can often leave people feeling dull and like their life is lacking the colors and emotions that they once felt. Going through this phase for long enough, some people might look to intentionally experience melancholy and heartache just for the sake of feeling something. As humans, arguably one of the most unique features about us is the extent to which we can feel emotions. When some of us don’t feel those emotions for long enough sometimes we intentionally seek out things that make us sad just for the sake of feeling something rather than nothing at all. Some might say that sadness and depression are darkness. In the world of sensation where we often associate emotions with different colours, depression and sadness are among the darkest of them all. But darkness too is a kind of colour in the sense that at least it is SOMETHING to see. To some of us sometimes we need to feel just to remind us that we’re still alive.

This is a traditional blues song that, through written and improvised melodies, walks us through the many levels of somber that we can experience throughout our lives and sometimes we turn to these emotions just to feel like we are still alive.

So enjoy this journey with its many tense somber moments that reflect the dull but yet thick colours in the lesser half of human emotion.
