about

“Take a leap of faith” “Face your fears head on” “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”

These are clichés that all of us have probably heard at some point. There’s a lot to be said for playing it safe in life but I like to live like this day and this life might just be my last. I do not want to find myself lying on my death bed wishing that I had done more with my life. The world is full of dangerous unknowns and to many of us there are a lot of reasons to keep a low profile and not venture out into those unknowns. But a lot of the time when you really look at these fears you have, whether it’s a fear of rejection in dating, or a fear of adventuring and going to new places. What is the worst that could happen in the worst-case scenario within reason?

Vitality is a song depicting my frustration with people that I care about who play things a little bit too safe. I believe that raw will is more powerful than any other trait that we have as individuals and it both saddens me and vexes me to see people not live up to at least a reasonable portion of their potential. There are ways of venturing out onto the edge while also being smart about it. I’ve had both friends and significant others in the past that just refuse on all accounts to take the bull by the horns and it usually leaves many feeling very skittish of the things that life has to offer. This song is also meant to symbolize a motivational anthem for those of us struggling to find the drive to learn something new or embark on a new experience. Now, I’m not advocating for things malicious or illegal by any means. But why not start up some new hobbies, or start a business from something that you like to do in your free time, or heck even just start up the car and drive to a part of town that you’ve never been to before and broaden your horizons? Go for an afternoon walk and leave the phone at home, see where you end up (and if you can find your way back 😉 ). Drop a few hundred bucks from your savings on that new paint set or guitar you’ve been eyeing for the better part of a decade. A lot of things aren’t always as bad as they seem and leaving this life knowing that you lived a little is something that we should all aim for as one of our ultimate accomplishments.

So, don’t wait. It's never too late to put together that bucket list… and it’s never too late to start crossing things off. After all, usually when we hit the point where we are thinking about our bucket list… it’s usually too late anyway.
